Documents required for import personal or business shipments
Here are the documents required for import for personal or business shipments in the Netherlands, according to the Dutch Customs and Excise Authority (Douane):
Bill of Lading or Airway Bill
This document is issued by the shipping company and shows the details of the shipment, such as the goods being imported, the quantity, the weight, and the value.
Commercial Invoice
This document is issued by the exporter and shows the details of the sale, such as the price of the goods, the terms of payment, and the export duties and taxes that have been paid.
Import License (if applicable):
Some goods may require an import license from the Dutch government. You can check with the Dutch Customs and Excise Authority to see if your goods require an import license.
Packing List
This document lists the contents of the shipment and their quantity.
Pre-shipment Inspection Certificate
This document is issued by a third-party inspector and shows that the goods have been inspected and meet the required standards.
Insurance Certificate
This document shows that the goods are insured against loss or damage during transport.
Technical standard certificates (for electronics, machinery, and other products):
These documents are issued by the relevant authorities in the exporting country and show that the products meet the technical standards of the Netherlands.
Certificate of Origin
This document shows the country of origin of the goods
Health and phytosanitary certificates (for food and agricultural products)
These documents are issued by the relevant authorities in the exporting country and show that the food and agricultural products meet the health and safety requirements of the Netherlands.
In addition to these documents, you may also need to provide other documents, such as a customs declaration, a power of attorney, or a certificate of value. The specific documents required will vary depending on the type of goods being imported and the country of origin.
